Blue green algae is the common name for Cyanobacteria, a sometimes dangerous and highly toxic substance. The three main forms of this algae are Anabae, Microcytis and Nodularia.The later two produce peptide toxins, the former produces alkaloid nerve toxins. All are very dangerous for your health. Common human medical ailments from the ingestion of any of these toxins include gastroenteritis, liver damage and dermatitis and mey promote liver cancer.

Consumers are advised to be very careful when considering investment in a UV water purification system. The performance of the system will depend on the effectiveness of the light penetration through the lamp.

Though some test results may indicate high performance, be aware such results are always based on new lamps. As lamps collect dirt and sediment on the outer walls of the filament, light penetration drops sharply and results will also drop accordingly.
